Human Resources Strategy for Researchers

The IMDEA Software Institute has been recognized with the “HR Excellence in Research Award”. The European Commission grants the “HR Excellence in Research Award” to institutions that make progress in aligning their human resources policies to the 40 principles of the Charter & Code.

The award reflects the commitment to continuously improve our human resource policies in line with the European Charter for Researchers and the Code of Conduct for the Recruitment of Researchers, and the commitment to achieve fair and transparent recruitment and appraisal procedures.

HR Strategy for Researchers: the journey

The IMDEA Software Institute fully endorses the principles of the European Charter for Researchers and the Code of Conduct for the Recruitment of Researchers (Charter & Code). These two documents, with their 40 principles, contain recommendations concerning the responsibilities and obligations of researchers, employers and funders as regards four themes: ethical and professional aspects, recruitment (open, transparent and merit based), working conditions and social security and training.

The “HR Strategy for Researchers” supports research institutions and funding organizations in the implementation of the European Charter for Researchers and the Code of Conduct for the Recruitment of Researchers in their policies and practices.

The implementation of the Charter & Code principles by research institutions renders them more attractive to researchers looking for a new employer or for a host for their research project.

The European Commission recognizes with the “HR Excellence in Research Award” the institutions which make progress in aligning their human resources policies to the 40 principles of the Charter & Code, based on a customized action plan/HR strategy.

In 2020, as part of its commitment to bring the best researching talent to Madrid, the IMDEA Software Institute signed the declaration of participation in the “HR Strategy for Researchers”. In 2021, after carrying out self-evaluations to identify gaps, the IMDEA Software Institute elaborated its first action plan.

On November 30th, 2021, the IMDEA Software Institute was granted the “HR Excellence in Research Award”. The award reflects the IMDEA Software Institute’s commitment to continuously improve its human resource policies in line with the European Charter for Researchers and the Code of Conduct for the Recruitment of Researchers.
